Multiple Business Locations? What About IT Security?

It's a wonderful thing when your hard work pays off, and your single location small business grows to have multiple locations and an abundance of employees and teams. But as with any business growth, logistics get more complicated. How do you manage IT quality and security with so many networks and individual devices? I'm here to share some tips on just that.

Have a System in Place

With multiple locations, it is all too easy for security and network issues to become "out of sight, out of mind" in the sites you don't frequent. However, if all of your employees are using the same databases and Cloud storage, all of your information could be at risk if one location isn't following the right security protocol. By having a standard of security for all locations, including remote workers, you mitigate the chances of a catastrophic breach of company security.

This system should include:

  • Web security
  • Malware protection
  • Firewalls
  • Employee education on phishing and ransomware
  • 24/7 monitoring by trained IT professionals to avoid extended downtime

Once you have this system in place, put someone in charge of checking and updating it on at least a bi-monthly basis if not more. This may be an employee or an IT company.
